Long Hair

How Long Does It Take to Grow Long Hair?

Like any growth, hair takes time. Hair typically grows about half an inch per month. This means you could potentially grow 6 inches of healthy hair in a year. However, it's important to note that this is just an average growth rate and some people may experience faster or slower hair growth.

Understanding your hair's natural growth cycle can help. The hair growth cycle consists of four stages:

  • anagen
  • catagen
  • telogen
  • exogen.

During the anagen phase, which lasts for two to six years, new hair growth pushes old hair out of the follicle. About 90% of your hair is in this phase at any given time.

The catagen phase comes next, lasting around three weeks (but can be up to four months). Hair growth stops during this phase.

In the telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, the body prepares to shed hair and start a new growth cycle. This phase lasts for three months.

The exogen phase is the shedding process, which lasts a few days, during which you may lose about 100 hairs per day.

It's important to note that every hair strand goes through this cycle, and shedding is a natural part of hair growth. In fact, shedding some hair is necessary to encourage new, longer, and stronger growth.

Hair growth can be frustratingly slow, but there are ways to support your hair's journey towards a foot-long length. Although you can't speed up hair growth overnight, you can strengthen your hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth:

Get Regular Trims

Trimming helps get rid of split ends, and removing hair damage helps promote faster hair growth.

Eat a Healthy and Balanced Diet

Eating a balanced and nutrient-rich diet is crucial for healthy hair growth. Make sure your diet includes foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, proteins, essential minerals, and vitamins, such as vitamin E. Remember that hair wellness starts from the inside, and what you eat not only benefits your overall health but also promotes healthy hair growth.

Use a Hair Oil

Our BUR BUR Growing Season treatment is created to enhance the appearance of thicker and fuller hair. Our proprietary formula includes a blend of burdock, nettle, vitamin C, and plant proteins, all of which contain essential hair-healthy nutrients, including vitamin A. These ingredients have been clinically proven to promote thicker and fuller-looking hair for all hair types in as little as two months with consistent use.

Reduce Stress

Chronic stress can negatively impact both your health and hair growth. A study has shown that cortisol, the stress hormone, can force hair to enter the telogen (resting) phase prematurely, causing hair to fall out.

Massage Your Scalp Often

Daily scalp massages are an effective way to promote hair growth by increasing blood circulation to the hair follicles. To achieve the best results, we recommend using our scalp Guasha.
